(GEM RADIO)- Kanye West posted on Instagram a restriction letter he received from Gap. Just a few days prior, the rapper’s lawyer formally notified Gap in a letter that the rapper had terminated his contract with the label.
Summary of the Restrictions
The letter he got indicated that he was “limited” from utilizing his Yeezy logo or other distinctive features on a variety of other products, which caused Kanye to write in the caption of his post, “Well, I guess the war’s not over.” In summary, Kanye is prohibited from using his Yeezy trademark on an extensive range of shoes, clothes, and accessories, which clarified that he could not imitate the designs of Yeezy by Adidas or Yeezy by Gap items.
Kanye West has already had trouble with the Gap brand for not giving him a board seat. He alleged that Gap excluded him from meetings and the creative process and failed to market the line. Additionally, according to an earlier Gem Radio article, he implied that the Gap was stealing his designs, just like Adidas had.
In an interview, the Donda singer expressed his desire to work alone on his fashion line. “It’s fine. I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever, like the round jacket, the foam runner, and the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”
An Independent Yeezy Brand
Kanye West’s comments reveal details about his plans to go solo. His intention to open many retail stores was obvious, as neither Gap nor Adidas could accommodate his request. He has been seen pleading with candidates with retail networks to get in touch with him. However, experts assert that a lot would be needed to make this choice work.
The rapper plans to create a private religious school in addition to retail businesses. Additionally, he intends to launch Donda Campuses, which will provide housing, retail space, educational facilities, farms, and exclusive Yeezy merchandise. He has also been hiring people outside the retail industry, hiring former Nike designer Nur Abbas to be the head of design for the Yeezy line.
