(GEMS RADIO)- Jay-Z’s new exhibition dubbed “The Book of HOV” is full of surprises. Questlove was quite impressed when he first visited the exhibition.
The Brooklyn Public Library exhibition is magnificent. It’s displaying items belonging to one hip hop artist which makes it unique. On Thursday 13th July, Jay-z opened the library and held a private party in the exhibition.
When you visit its website, you will discover that the exhibition contains many archived items, such as artifacts and videos, coveted recognitions and accolades, memorable stage clothes, photos that have never been released to the public before, and original recording equipment. All these are items he acquired during the different stages of his musical career.
The exhibition contains information about HOV’s life from the Marcy projects in Brooklyn to international fame. Its objective is to offer a behind-the-scenes view of a philanthropist, successful business owner, a rapper and song writer. It also allows his fans to celebrate Jay-z’s achievements, background and artistry.
The exhibition is set to be opened to the public on July 14, Friday and will run the whole summer. Nevertheless, a group of people visited the place on Thursday evening such as DJ Khaled, Rakim, Yo Gotti, Lil Uzi Vert, Fat Joe, Questlove and others.
Jay-Z, his daughter Blue Ivy and wife Beyonce were also present at the event. Jay-Z has been in the music, industry for about 30 years. It is a remake of Baseline Studios, which is a well-known recording studio in New York City where the rapper produced phenomenal albums such as The Black Album and The Blueprint.
Questlove posted a video on Instagram praising the exhibition. He showed his fans the area where the scribbled tracklists and studio machines are displayed.
“Yo, man… I’m mind-blown. They recreated Baseline Studios!” Questlove said while the song “My 1st Song” was playing from the speakers.
He also asked Just Blaze how much time they spent recreating the studio. Blaze is one of the producers at Roc-A-Fella. The producer explained that the project took them four months to complete.
For the fans who cannot visit the exhibition after it has been opened, they can visit it virtually through the website. The site provides a guide about what item is displayed there with Angie Martinez narrating it.
The news about the exhibition was announced at the beginning of this week. Jay-z’s lyrics were written on the front side of the Brooklyn Public Library in a newspaper like fashion.
Apparently, Jay-z’s employees at Roc Nation organized the event without involving him because they wanted it to be a surprise. According to Roc Nation’s Chief Executive, Desiree Perez, they knew he would not allow it to take place if they had engaged him in their plans.
