(GEMS RADIO)- Nicki Minaj was one of the celebrities who attended the Barbie Movie World Premier on Sunday. She walked on the pink carpet and she adorned a lavender dress with a wrap skirt. Recently, she collaborated with Ice Spice to do a remix of the Barbie Girl song by Aqua which is being used as the movie’s soundtrack.
“There were a couple of songs that I didn’t love. And then there was another song, well this ‘Barbie’ sample, I loved it. I just wanted it to have a dope drum,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “The one they sent me I loved, and I jumped on it right away. I’m so excited to be here and be part of this entire moment. I’ve been saying Barbie my whole career so it’s a very full-circle moment for me.”
The event took place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California on July 9th, 2023. Margot Robbie who is starring in the movie, talked about the significance of having Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj do the soundtrack in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I was like, ‘Greta [Gerwig], how are we going to incorporate this song? We can’t do a Barbie movie and not have a nod to Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl.’ It has to be in there,’” Robbie said. “And [Greta] was like, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to find a cool way to incorporate it.’”
“When she was like, ‘Guess who’s going to do the remix of Aqua’s “Barbie Girl”? Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.’ I was like, ‘Together? Are you joking?!’ I just knew immediately that all my girlfriends were going to lose their minds.” She added
Apart from Margot Robbie, other actors who have been featured in the film are Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling among others.
Meanwhile, Drake had to duck for cover when fans started throwing objects at while onstage in Detroit. They threw items like hats, shoes and bras till he had to beg them to stop.
“Oh shit!” he exclaimed. “This not what we wanna see, a big-ass shoe. This what I need you to do, Detroit, this what I need to you do, please, for me. I’m so grateful to be back in this building with you after all this time that we had to sit in the crib, right?
“Please stop throwing bras up here, I can’t — I feel like I’m on clean-up duty tonight… titty clean-up duty. This is crazy.”
His attitude towards the behavior seems to have changed. Last week in Chicago fans threw bras at him and he made fun of the situation.
Beyonce is also doing a tour dubbed Renaissance Tour which is scheduled to end on October. Her husband JayZ has been super supportive and he has been spotted in the VIP section during most of her performances.
This weekend he caught a fan filming him as he danced the electric slide with his mom and other family and friends while Bey was performing. He held a finger up signaling the fan to stop filming him.
