According to Chart Data, Nicki Minaj’s trending hit song is still growing in popularity and has attained double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
The song features a sample of Rick James’ 1981 classic “Super Freak,” Nicki Minaj released last August.
The rapper recently praised the success by tweeting a quotation from the article and writing: “In a matter of months? Barbz, what bad btches you are! Ugh! Your thoughts! First #1 SOLO female rap debut since Lauryn Hill, certified #DOUBLEPLATINUM. Since I made my solo debut, that is. Oh, Barbz, you’re gonna be famous forever. Many thanks. I love you.
The Pink Friday rapper’s song has previously shattered records, so this is nothing new. It quickly set a significant Spotify record by becoming the only female rap song with the fastest-ever accumulation of 100 million streams.
Nicki’s powerful new single marked the first solo female rap artist to debut at No. 1 on the charts since 1998 and handed her first No. 1 hit as a solo artist.
Nicki Minaj recently defeated Drake to have the most No. 1 singles with her Ice Spice-featuring song, “Princess Diana.”
The remix, which the duo released earlier this month, is presently No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. As a result, Nicki continues to hold the title for the most Top 10 hits by a female rapper on the Hot 100 chart.
