Jay-Z hired a former cop to serve as private investigator during an ongoing legal battle with Parlux. The two parties have sued and countersued each other regarding a 2016 advertising deal. Back then, Jay-Z entered a contract to advertise his cologne, called Gold Jay-Z. Parlux claims he went back on their deal after receiving millions of dollars from them. Jay-Z shot back in legal docs, saying Parlux violated their legal duty during the deal by keeping financial records a secret.
So where does the PI come in? Well, the former CEO of Parlux, Donald Loftus, was asked to testify in court. However, he cited the COVID-19 pandemic as his justification to testify remotely. According to Rolling Stone, Jay’s legal team then employed a former NYPD sergeant to track Loftus’ movements as proof that he can testify in person. Rolling Stone even obtained court documents that show evidence of Loftus living it up in various locations, maskless. Looks like the legal battle is heating up!
