Black Thought to Release New Memoir

(GEMS RADIO)—Black Thought, from the Roots, is releasing a new memoir called The Upcycled Self. Variety says the new book talks about his upbringing and life.

Black Thought’s new memoir will talk about the tragedies in his life including a fire that destroyed his childhood home. The book is out November 14 and is a coming of age story that is grounded in what is an examined life. “The storytelling continues. The medium is ever evolving. I’m so proud of this work. It’s been years in the making. The story of the Upcycled Self — a focus on childhood forged from the fire,” he wrote. “I hope in sharing so much about my upbringing we can find new courage to start the difficult conversations that prompt healing, with ourselves and others. As men. As Black men. As humans.”
