(GEMS RADIO)—Benny the Butcher and Black Soprano Family want to become the hottest hip hop collective out there.
After Benny the Butcher and the Griselda crew (Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn) placed Buffalo, NY on the map, Benny is ready to do the same for the Black Soprano Family. In September, the group released Long Live DJ Shay, their fifth LP. The album was dedicated to DJ Shay, who played a pivotal role in molding the group to where it is today. Songs like “297 Parkside,” “Shay Face” and “Brody” are great examples of the collective’s time to shine. You can catch their “Times Is Rough” video here.
“The number one mission for the album was to basically separate ourselves from the pack,” member Rick Hyde tells HipHopDX. “We’re Black Soprano Family. We stand on different values. Authenticity is our thing, and we just wanted to bring that to the forefront.”
