(GEMS RADIO)-Almost three-year-old argument between Megan Thee Stallion and 1501 Certified Entertainment is still going strong. Megan has asked a Texas judge to call a surprise witness to her impending deposition.
According to court records, Megan Thee Stallion wishes to have 1501 executive Darien Smith deposed.
Darien reportedly has “first-hand knowledge” of this controversy involving her former label boss Carl Crawford, Megan has asked to depose him. She has further charged that the label has failed to cooperate with her “in good faith to schedule these depositions” and has refused to do so.
“To ensure that all pending discovery is finished by July 5, 2023, the Court should order 1501 to adhere to its discovery obligations, produce missing documents, and present the deponents asked for depositions. The time is running out. The lawsuit has been dragging on for too long, and Pete is eager to put things to rest.
Megan had already filed a motion in Court alleging that Crawford was stealing the money intended for her. Despite having millions more invested, Meg claimed that the principal bank account for 1501 now has a little over $10,000 in it.
The legal conflict between Megan and 1501 began in 2019. The problems started soon after the Houston Hottie, apparently without 1501’s knowledge, agreed to a management contract with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation.
Meg filed a claim against the label in response to 1501’s initial complaint, charging that they prevented her from releasing songs and refused to modify her contract.
In a separate lawsuit brought in February 2022 against 1501, the plaintiff pleaded with the Court to recognize her 2021 release of Something For Thee Hotties as an album to enable her to complete the terms of her deal with the label.
A short while later, Crawford and 1501 countersued, with Crawford calling the endeavor a “bullshit ass mixtape.”
Although these legal issues have not yet been addressed, Crawford praised Megan on Instagram in March before her appearance at the AT&T Block Party.
