(GEMS RADIO)- Missy Elliott has received recognition from the National Museum of African American Music, adding another award to her extensive list of accomplishments.
The National Museum of African American Music Celebration
The Virginia- native producer and rapper has impacted society throughout her career, lasting more than three decades, particularly by paving the way for female musicians.
The National Museum of African American Music’s Celebration of Legends will, therefore, also honor Missy Elliot and her record label, Atlantic Records, among many others. On June 2, the function will be held at the museum in Nashville.
It’s also anticipated that Mya, who appeared in Missy’s legendary “Lady Marmalade” adaptation for Moulin Rouge in the early 2000s, may appear.
The National Museum of African American Music, which opened in Nashville in 2021, is committed to honoring and protecting the centuries-long musical impact of African Americans. It also offers a variety of social services to both locals and visitors.
Missy is now being honored as she deserves. She was accepted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the first female rapper.
Missy Elliott Celebrates Her Victory
Missy Elliott posted on social media at the beginning of May to share his joy for the coveted award. Missy wrote on Instagram that this occasion was “huge” for her and all of her “sisters in hip hop.”
She also congratulated DJ Kool Herc, Chaka Khan, TV personality Don Cornelius, and other honorees from the class of 2023 for their “hard work and influence on music.”
Missy Elliott also praised God for her recent induction in a second tweet, saying that her years of hard work speak for themselves in spite of her feeling a little “down” because of internet trolls calling her “washed up.”
She received an honorary degree and the Presidential Commencement Medallion, the school’s “most prestigious award,” from Norfolk State University in December last year.
