(GEMS RADIO)- In a recent interview, J. Cole talked openly about his role as an influence for emerging rappers. Although J. Cole does not think of himself as a mentor to young rappers, he is aware of this perception.
Cole Talks About His Influence On Young RAooers
Cole and Bob Myers, the general manager of the Golden State Warriors, had a lengthy talk that was broadcast on ESPN. During the conversation, the co-founder of Dreamville Records talked about a variety of subjects. He also talked openly about his part in the rap industry.
Cole responded that he doesn’t see himself as a “leader” to aspiring rappers in response to the way he feels regarding that. He remarked, “It never even crosses my mind,” before admitting that some people might think of him in that way.
“I’m sure there’s someone out there that views me in the same way that I did, viewing individuals I don’t truly know as a North star and directing light to lead me to the place I desire to get.
Tupac, Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Andre 3000 were mentioned as some of his influences from the beginning of his career.
So you know, I’ve had these influential figures in my life who, in a certain manner or form, I was turning to for advice, continued J. Cole. Whether it be musically inventive.
J. Cole’s Influence on Eminem
Hip-hop artists of all generations look to J. Cole for inspiration. Eminem acknowledged in an interview from last year that he finds inspiration in up-and-coming rappers like Cole.
