(GEMS RADIO)- The Death Row Records collection has been uploaded to Tiktok by Snoop Dogg. This is after obtaining the rights to it last year and withdrawing it from streaming providers.
The exclusive collaboration with TikTok’s SoundOn production and marketing business is the first of its type, according to a Billboard report published on Tuesday. The collection, which features songs like Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle and 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me, and others, will only be available for one week.
Snoop claimed in a statement that the Super Bowl determined the scheduling.
Barely a day has gone by since I removed Death Row from streaming about a year ago without someone begging me to do it, according to Snoop. I wanted to present the most illustrious catalog to the populace as the Super Bowl approached because I knew fans would yearn for the music from our legendary performance in 2022.
“Death Row releases will be available on streaming providers fairly soon,” he continued.
In 2022, Snoop Dogg purchased the Death Row catalog and promptly removed it from streaming apps. The renowned rapper explained his decision during a Drink Champs visit in April.
He claimed that he did that because those sites don’t pay. He started by removing all the music from the well-known ones. And while those platforms receive millions of streams, only the record labels are paid. He added that he intends to develop a platform that would compete with Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu by stealing their music. The music will exist in the metaverse while the Death Row app is being developed.
As Dr. Dre’s 1992 album The Chronic celebrates its 30th anniversary, Snoop licensed the album’s rights to its initial producer, Interscope Records, and let the vintage LP resurface on streaming sites. But when Dr. Dre announced the album’s reappearance, he left out Snoop.
