(GEMS RADIO)–6ix9ine has told the judge in a court overseeing the 2018 armed robbery lawsuit that he is struggling to make ends meet. In court documents that were published by news outlets, the rapper says that his career has not been the same since coming out of jail in 2020. 6ix9ine adds that money is drying up and labels are unwilling to extend advances over to him.
The rapper has been unusually quiet for the better part of 2022. On Instagram, Tekashi has not posted anything since May 2021, a sharp contrast to what he was before the court case where he was known for frequent trolls.
In his recent testimony written to a judge, he says;
“Right now, I am struggling to make ends meet,” claims 6ix9ine in court documents. “I do not know if I will ever command the kind of advances I was paid before my arrest, and my career stalled. I did receive large advances under the recording artist and merchandising agreements prior to my arrest. However, I do not receive any royalties under those agreements either since my royalty accounts remain recouped.”
The rapper’s deal with TenThousandProjects ended last month as well as his merchandising deal, bringing an end to a 5-year deal. He released two projects with the label– Day69 mixtape and Dummy Boy, his 2018 studio album.
In 2019, he faced racketeering charges which led to his resignation from the label. After release from jail, he released the TattleTales album in 2020 along with a number of singles.
Bankruptcy is a possibility for the rapper, as he writes to the judge in the final statement;
“It will surely bankrupt me in a way from which I will never recover to the permanent detriment and hardship of the family members who rely upon me.”
In April 2018, 6ix9ine was charged with an armed robbery attempt after he alongside Trey Nine Bloods members assaulted Kevin Dozier and Seketha Wonzer. The rapper pleaded guilty after the two men filed a lawsuit in December 2021.
