For Matt Berninger, lead singer of rock act the National, writing the group’s new single was very cathartic. Matt told New Music Express: “It’s a song about someone being honest about not being honest with themselves, and about not being honest with other people.”
The new tune called “Somebody Desperate” rolls during the ending credits of Cyrano, a new film based on the adaptation of the play ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’. Berninger said it was easy to channel what the characters were going through. “We all have these deep insecurities when it comes to our hearts, and I’ve written about this stuff forever.” The song draws from personal experiences the lead singer has dealt with.
